Tangled Inspired Engagement Party

It’s wedding season and with multiple friends planning upcoming ceremonies, love is definitely in the air! Briana has been one of my best friends for a long time now and I even got to be a co-conspirator in planning where and how Adam would pop the question; so even before I was asked to be maid-of-honor, I insisted on hosting an engagement party for our close friends. What can I say, I’m a hopeless romantic who loves a good love story. Vince and I first met the happy couple years ago through our shared love of Disney and Disneybounding so we knew right away that Disney would be in the details for this special occasion. Not only that, but the movie Tangled has extra sentimental value to them (Briana was once very good friends with Rapunzel while working at the Magic Kingdom) so choosing the theme for this particular soiree was the easiest part. From there, I just had to figure out details. Continue reading Tangled Inspired Engagement Party

Finding Nemo Chocolate Orange Yogurt Parfait

Today marks the 14th anniversary of Pixar’s Finding Nemo! I realized this at about 9pm last night, just as I was beginning to develop a sweet tooth. The kids were already asleep and I’ve never been much of a late night muncher myself, so while I wanted to satisfy my craving, I also wasn’t prepared to indulge in anything too heavy or sugary. With that (and Nemo) in mind, I began to search my kitchen for the perfect snack…but what I found was that “grocery shopping” has moved its way up to the top of my to-do list. Luckily, I also found plain greek yogurt, a couple oranges, and some leftover chocolate chips… and thus, this grown-up sweet tooth solution (aka the Nemo Parfait) was born.

Unicorn Elotes (Mexican Street Corn)

Growing up in Southern California, elotes came around as frequently as the ice cream truck. Usually accompanied by a bell or a bicycle horn, a man (or woman) would come walking down the street with a whole cart full of sweet delicious corn yelling “elotes, elotes” and I’d ask my mom for a dollar and run outside to enjoy a delicious mid-day treat. Celebrating Disney Moms With Disneybounding

Wilderness Explorer Backyard Camp Out

This post is a throwback to a fun campout we had with the kids last summer! I wasn’t blogging regularly back then, but we had so much fun that I thought it was definitely worth sharing in honor of this week’s Disney Family #DisneyWeekend theme being back yard camp out! We made our campout a Wilderness Explorer theme, because not only do we love the movie Up (and let’s face it, ALL the Pixar movies), but I had the idea of adding a bit of learning to the experience by having the kids participate in different activities to earn Wilderness Explorer “badges” (stickers) just like Russel has in the movie! Dark Side Cookies and Bantha Milk

We keep hearing all this talk about the dark side having cookies, so Caleb and I decided to don our matching Vader sweaters and switch sides for a day to see what all the fuss is about. And big surprise–no cookies! Lucky for them, I had a feeling this might happen so I came prepared with my own recipe for not only these chocolatey Mustafar-inspired “dark side” cookies, but blue vanilla bantha milk to wash them down! You’re welcome, Anakin. Continue reading Dark Side Cookies and Bantha Milk

DIY Sulley Shawl (Monsters Inc)

Last weekend Disney and fashion lovers from all over gathered at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, CA for the semi-annual fan organized event known as Dapper Day. Dapper Day celebrates the tradition of “stepping out in style,” and while many guests choose vintage and vintage-inspired fashion, I like to always bring my own personal style which tends to be more modern and above all, colorful. A Very Merry Un-birthday Party

We recently had the pleasure of attending one of the most epic birth– er, un-birthday parties I’ve even been to. With help from her family and others in the Disney community, Velia, the mother of Sophie (better known as @growinguponmainstreet on Instagram) transported guests down the rabbit hole by transforming an entire backyard into a literal Wonderland. From masterfully crafted Wonderland themed snacks to beautiful backdrops, no detail was left out. And to top it off, Alice and the Mad Hatter themselves (performed by The Adventure Effect) were guests of the party! They ran around with the kids, told stories, posed for pictures, and even played a rousing game of “Alice Says.” Continue reading A Very Merry Un-birthday Party
